Ways to Protect Your Tile Flooring When Moving into Your New Home!

Are you getting ready to move into your new house? Does your new home have beautiful tile floors that you are concerned about when moving your furniture in? Moving into a new place is one of the most exciting times of your life. It's your house; it is a huge accomplishment; you absolutely love the tile floors because they are new and gorgeous and make the home feel welcoming and warm. These are all very common feelings, but how do you move your furniture in without causing scratches or damage to the tile.

Most tiles are incredibly durable and can take a lot of wear and tear, but why risk it when you can take a few precautions to help reduce your risk of damaging your tile floors.

Keep your tile floors clean. We highly recommend before moving into your new home; you schedule a professional cleaning service. This is the best way to ensure that any and all dirt is removed prior to moving everything in. Companies like AriStone Cleaning and Restoration use high-pressure systems with an extraction system. I know it is a new house and you are sure the floors are clean, but it is smart to make sure. Whether the new home is a new build or a previously owned, cleaning prior to moving in makes sense. Arizona, as you know, is a desert. There is sand and dust always getting into the house. People are walking in and out doing inspections and showings, tracking all that dirt in daily.

Not only is it smart to get the tile flooring cleaned before moving you, but you should also cover them up when moving furniture in. Putting plastic down or drop clothes in areas that will be main traffic areas for moving furniture and boxes will help minimize the amount of dirt you track in during the move in process and after you have already had the floors professionally cleaned. It also will help prevent the possibility of pushing potentially sharp edges on the tile surface and causing scratches. The plastic and drop clothes can also act as furniture moving helpers. They will slide nicely across the tile without causing damage.

Use those little furniture mover pads that you put underneath sofa feet or larger items to help them glide across the tile. This will help, so they do not get stuck on grout lines causing chipping. Placing boxes that are not empty on plastic while they wait to be unboxed prevents sliding along the tile surface potentially causing damage or scratches.

Suppose you have enough people helping you move in. In that case, you can have designated people inside the house and others assigned for outside moving. This may be hard to do in the summer months as everyone wants to get out of the Arizona Summer heat. I know this may seem unreasonable and a hassle, but it will help reduce the amount of dirt and dust that gets tracked into your new house.

These are just a few things you can do to help prevent tile flooring damage during move in. The professional cleaning before moving in is the best thing you can do and then protect the higher traffic areas. With these two steps alone, you can prevent the majority of possible damage and keep your floors clean during the in and out phase of moving into your new home.

If something happens, you can always call the professionals back in and help you figure out the best remedy for whatever damage may have occurred.
